About Us
Dr. Christine Halaburka
Christine Halaburka, M.D. is a board certified pediatrician, with admitting privileges to Good Samaritan Hospital and Community Hospital of Los Gatos and is on the voluntary clinical teaching staff of Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. Dr. Halaburka returned to school after having her first two children, receiving a BA in biochemistry with honors and distinction in general scholarship from UC Berkeley. She then attended Stanford Medical School, where she did research in Pediatric Endocrinology and taught Anatomy and Endocrinology. She remains however a diehard Cal Bears fan. She began her residency at Stanford in 1987, as a single mother of two teenagers. It was during her first year that she met her husband, a widower with two young boys. They married and she and her children moved to Los Gatos, where she adopted the two younger boys, and then sadly was left widowed when her husband died.
In 1990, Dr. Halaburka joined Pediatric Associates in Los Gatos, a practice which had taken care of her two younger adopted boys. During these years of raising children and starting her practice, Dr. Halaburka was indeed a very busy woman, only to be made more so by a serious illness of one of her sons. So she has seen both sides of the medical system, as a provider and as the mother of a very ill child, who is now doing quite well as an adult with a daughter of his own!
Dr. Halaburka looking for a more intimate personal and patient friendly practice experience, then decided to strike out on her own opening a solo practice in 2003. Quickly she was very busy and was indeed very fortunate to have Dr. Del Signore join her in 2004.
Dr. Halaburka has a true love of children and of parenting, and she thrives on sharing that love and enthusiasm with her patients and their patients. Two of Dr. Halaburka.s children have served in the Peace Corps, and she likes to adopt the Peace Corps job description to parenting, "the hardest job you will ever love". Her joy of traveling the magical journey of parenting with her families, keeps her energetic and eager in her job more and more so every year. Along with teaching parents how to avoid the common pitfalls to parenting, she also greatly enjoys teaching the fresh new doctors coming up through the ranks. Her practice is exceedingly fortunate to have a Lucille Packard Children's Hospital resident doctor, Dr. Heather Iezza, working with her on a weekly basis for the full three years of her training.
Dr. Claire Del Signore
Claire Del Signore, M.D. is a board certified pediatrician, with admitting privileges to Good Samaritan and Community Hospital of Los Gatos. Dr. Del Signore graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College with a B.A. in Biology. She continued on to obtain her medical doctorate from Upstate Medical Center Syracuse, N.Y. in 1990. She completed her Pediatric residency training at Upstate Medical Center in 1993. During her training, she did clinical research with the Human Genetics Department. Luckily, she loves cross-country skiing, which helped her get around during the harsh winters of Upstate New York.
Dr. Del Signore has practiced in a variety of settings. She has worked in a pediatric emergency room in Baltimore, an inpatient hospital setting in Maryland, a large group pediatric practice in New York and a small group practice in Maryland. She has found the small practice setting to best fit her goals for providing pediatric care.
Dr. Del Signore relocated to San Jose in 1999, with her husband Adel Abi-Hanna, M.D. who is a pediatric gastroenterologist. She was sad to leave her wonderful practice in Maryland, but excited for the warmer climate and lack of ice storms. They have two active boys ages seven and three, who provide them with plenty of great stories as well as front line parenting challenges. While raising the boys, Dr. Del Signore worked as a contracted physician in a variety of settings in San Jose. After her husbands practice was off the ground, she decided it was time again to build her own Pediatric family. In March of 2004, she was thrilled to join Dr. Christine Halaburka, a well-respected pediatrician in the Bay area.
Dr. Del Signore prides herself in giving personal and educated care. From birth through young adulthood, she will give medical and common sense advice to her families. Every child is a unique and special person, and she hopes to bring those impressions to her families. She likes to instill humor and wit to her day and always enjoys having fun with her patients. Laughter should be a common part of each day. In her free time, she likes to find new ways to have fun with her boys, and has her 7 year old skiing through the winter. When she is not running with the little ones, she enjoys playing tennis, cross country skiing, reading and singing the boys to sleep. She welcomes your questions and invites you to join her friendly office.
